BIG Supporters,
Please join us in congratulating the members of the Appalachian team who are competing in the CFA Institute Research Challenge: Brianna Gilmore, Corbin Lammers, Derek Mahato, Ashley Meacham, and Maximus Pavone. Their hard work and determination have led them to victory in the North Carolina competition finals today! Next month, these students will carry the banner for both Appalachian State and North Carolina into the Sub-Regionals round when they compete for the Southeastern title. We are incredibly proud of these students! Their journey to this point has been fueled by countless hours of research, financial modeling, crafting an insightful analyst report, and meticulous preparation for their presentation. They are excellent representatives of Appalachian State!
The team and I would also like to thank our CFA Industry Mentor, Mr. Chris Pavese, Dr. Delbert Goff, and past Appalachian CFA Institute Research Challenge team members. This success would not have been possible without the support of Mr. Pavese, President and Chief Investment Officer of Broyhill Asset Management, combined with the foundation built by prior teams and Dr. Goff.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global security analysis competition that begins at the local level. Appalachian teams have won twelve out of sixteen years that the competition has been held in North Carolina and Appalachian is the only university in the state to have a team in the finals in all sixteen years. The following is a list of universities that participated in this year's competition, with asterisks indicating teams that made it to the finals in the NC round:
