Out of nearly 1,000 participating universities, Appalachian State University's Broyhill Fellows team has been named Americas Regional Champions in the CFA Institute Research Challenge and will compete as a Top 5 Global team on April 22.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. The Broyhill Fellows team, consisting of five students in the Walker College of Business -- Sam Crouse, Olivia Guillebeau, Sean James, Obadja (Obi) Ludwig and Zachary (Zach) Stowell -- are members of Appalachian's Bowden Investment Group (BIG), which analyzes investment opportunities and manages a real investment portfolio. Each year, five BIG members are selected to compete as the Broyhill Fellows, a program that the Broyhill Family helped develop and still helps mentor annually throughout the CFA challenge.
