Sywassink research awardee on state‑level policy uncertainty and bank loan pricing

Research from Appalachian State University assistant professor of finance Dr. Justin Cox was recently published in Accounting & Finance.

The work examines how state‑level economic policy uncertainty affects bank loan pricing in the United States. The study found that higher policy uncertainty increases borrowing costs and shapes commercial bank lending behavior, particularly for small businesses that rely on community banks for credit.

The findings highlight the importance of state‑level policy environments in influencing credit supply and investment decisions.
